By Evee B

Citywide outdoor baptism gathering at Myron Lake in Yakima

Free public baptism in Yakima this Saturday

If you've been waiting for a sign, this is it. Saturday, July 25, 2026, we're gathering at Myron Lake along the Yakima Greenway for a free, outdoor, citywide baptism called "I Left It in the River." No membership, no class, no cost, no appointment.

If you've put your faith in Jesus and you're ready to take this step, just show up.

The basics

  • When: Saturday, July 25, 2026
  • Where: Myron Lake, Yakima Greenway
  • Cost: Free
  • Who it's for: Anyone who has trusted Jesus and wants to be baptized
  • What to bring: A change of clothes and a towel
  • What you don't need: Membership, a class, an appointment, or perfect words

Why "I Left It in the River"

Baptism pictures burying the old life and coming up new. People come to this event carrying real things — grief, addiction, shame, fear, a season they're ready to close. They leave those things in the water and walk out with Jesus. That's what the name means. That's what the day is for.

Who can be baptized?

Anyone who has personally trusted Jesus — believed He died and rose again, and chosen to follow Him. Age doesn't matter. Church background doesn't matter. Whether you were baptized as a baby doesn't matter. If this is your own decision, you're welcome.

What if I'm nervous?

Almost everyone is. You don't have to speak in front of a crowd, tell your whole story, or recite anything. One or two sentences in your own words is enough. We'll walk you through it before you step into the water.

How do I sign up?

There's no form. Just show up. If you want to give us a heads-up, email simplyjesusprayerkitchen@gmail.com — but walk-ups are welcome and expected.
